Good afternoon all-hope everyone is ready for the weekend. I thought I had a show with Maggies Farm on it, but when I checked Deadlist they said it was only played in the Dylan rehearsals in May 87. Any ideas or am I just getting too old? Thanks in advance for your esteemed help and wisdom-the knowledge on this forum has never ceased to amaze me over the years. Have a fine day.

Welcome aboard Jolly! Still a few of us around the valley, shame we don't get to see any music here unless we trip on up to Floyd every summer. I don't post alot, more a casual read. Seems the brethren around here far outpace me on GD knowledge, so I just lurk and learn, so to speak. Be in touch, always nice to connect with like minded peeps.

Hey JC (and the new kid immediately above; might as well get "two hellos" for one post, eh?)--glad you had such success on the combustibles front. I would have posted a "congrats" earlier, but I am afraid I just haven't been keeping up as I should (?) around here. Well, much more regular than you, but regardless, good to see you back in action as it were. I gave up drinking a few wks back (purely temporary--call it an "experiment") just to see if I could, imagining that someday soon my doc will "require" it, if you follow, and like you, didn't really miss it. Miss the idea of it, if that makes sense, but had gotten to the pt that I was easily impacted afterward (eg, headaches), even when not overdoing it...anyhow, was heartened to find I could do it without any real thought/effort.

Good luck with the new (? did I get that right?) job.

Greeting Will Tell. No new job yet but the pre employment testing seems prevalent these days and in this market theres no way I can or will lose a job offer I want becuase of a failed test. Assuming there is no random testing once employed, methinks I'll emjoy the best of worlds and smoke less (I had ct back pretty substantially as it was with a couple one hits 3-4 days (nights) a week) and enjoy it more. I also have stopped drinking Mon, Tues and Wed nights as part of a similar experiment. I have a hard time with moderation you see. First time I have been unemployed in about 10 years and the state of Illinois pays remarkably well for a broke state! Started the first week of May and its been kinda of fun shame on me! Kinda like semi retirement. Since I hated the job I was let go from, this episode can only end better than that job ever would. Selling ads into a coupon magazine mailed to peoples houses. Several competitor who all had better cheaper products than me. Ouch. Have a great Saturday. Groks still take place anymore? If so could you post a link and password and I'll try to make it for at least a few songs. Thanks Will.

I can only have one glass now or I become , " Easily impacted " . It began last holiday season . I actually , like you , only miss the idea of it . And I don't miss it often . Usually , when it's really hot or cold out . When Cliff brought up Cloudy Bay in a thread this summer that was tough . My fav wine . Haven't had it once this summer . :(

Have you finished SS ? I'm on the waiting list at the library . What I wouldn't give for your library access .You must be in the first sem now ? Hope all is well with you and yours , WT .

Oh , WT , someone opened a WillTraveler account today , fyi

I chalk my "easily impacted" up to age, small veins in the brain, something like that...worry every once in a while overdoing it might some catastrophic system reboot or some such...yep, finished up SS some way time back; unlike most normal working folks, I have way too much time for books and the puter (though I'd trade away my physical limitations that force it in a heartbeat; I never was a reader til the past few decades--was always outside doing something or some such).

Thanks Rob. I appreciate the invite. Sometimes i wonder how I was able to spend as much time here as I did-especially the weekend groks! I used to laugh my ass off during those sessions. I thought it would be fun if we could somehow do split screen skype so we could do it "in person". That could truly get ugly fast with the likes of DireWolf lurking around. Right Wolf???

Better these days? I have gone 2 months being smoke free for the first time in about 35 years in anticipation of the inevitable pre-employment test. Oddly don't really miss it. Guess thats the habit part right? Hope you are well my friend. Dare I ask if things are ok with the family? And just to rub salt in a wound that probably will never happen again-how about that Pats/Rams game last night? Yeah I know its pre-season, but after last season a win is a win!!! Have a great weekend Dire and thanks for chiming in.

excellent these days (thankfully) - on 9/16 it will be two years without a drop (or anything else). life could not be better right now - family is great - my wife is wonderful (15 months married now)!! certainly not like those dark (but occasionally fun) days/nights when i was here all the time :)

good luck with the pre-emp test - you should ace it!

and yeah - a bit of revenge last night. i shut it off after the 3rd. Pats defense looks HORRIBLE. I was pretty damn impressed with Bradford though - first time I have seen him play since college. kid seems to have it - excellent composure and a sweet accurate arm, preseason or not. looks like a franchise qb in the making!

Jody - that was meant for Dire. He and I used to always refer one another as asshole. And his battles with Tito are legendary. Please don't take offense.

However, I blame the wordsmith and his clan(s) for what is the longest 3 days of torture I've ever experienced. Drunk and hungover for a long weekend listening to bagpipes from all over the world. One time was enough (and a hell of a good time)

Cheers in the ceremonial sense!! While I have stopped smoking -for now- I have an increased affection for IPA's. Habits will be habits no?

I tried my first Stones out in Boulder a couple weeks ago. A beer buddy of mine had it and swore by it. They also drink it on Weeds as a side note. While that doesn't make its way as far east as Missouri, we can get Steelheads from Mendacino across the line in Illinois. They make a killer IPA also.

If you're ever in Oakland you should all check out Beer Revolution in Jack London Square, great tavern. They had about 5 beers on tap from Mad River (brewers of Steelhead) among others and coolers full of random bottled beer. One of the sweet nectars of life!

Has it really been that long? I find it amazing to think that we go back such a long way - it seems such a short time ago that you were struggling so hard. Certainly for you it was true to say that the darkest hour came before the dawn. I'd have a warm and fuzzy brotherly moment here but I'd only open myself to ridicule from the cynical hordes infesting the premises.
